The Green List implementation process can be greatly supported by volunteers anywhere in the world who can help sites in a number of ways: 1) assist sites with using the data management system (a salesforce platform); 2) advise sites on the rules and procedures of the Green List; 3) provide technical guidance to sites on how to meet the criteria of the Green List Standard; and, 4) facilitate communication between the site and the Green List global Operations Team.
Mentors will receive a few hours of training about the IUCN Green List and an IUCN certificate following the training completion. Mentors serve in a voluntary capacity and can be appointed by the site or be assigned by IUCN to a particular site. Mentors can help sites already committed to the Green List, or new sites that are not yet committed but who would like to be.
Familiarise themselves with the IUCN Green List Standard, the User Manual’s rules and procedures, and COMPASS (the data management system), before engaging in the Green List process.
